Subventions for Events at the Annual Meeting

Annual Meeting Grants Subcommittee

  • Each year the Annual Meeting Grants considers special funding requests from standing committees, interest groups, and others for activities held at the SMT Annual Meeting. The budget for such requests is typically small, but we are glad to consider offsetting the costs associated with guest speakers, performers, technology matters, and other such expenses.
  • To apply for a special conference subvention, the Chair of the standing committee or interest group or the scholar organizing the event should write to the SMT Treasurer with a description of the request, a budget, and a short justification. The deadline for such conference subventions is April 10 of each year.
  • If its funds have not been expended during the April 10 round, the Annual Meeting Grants Subcommittee will invite further applications. If applicable, the deadline for the second round of subventions will be September 8.
